[not always. you can use an image/picture or item they own. It just has to have some way to link to the individual. Had to dig that sucker out of my bos ^.^ and I still can't figure out why the hell I did that with knife >.< I'm blaming it on being up at 3am and braindead. yesss... that's the story and I'm sticking to it.]

Indeed these were party tricks and Briallan had yet to pull out the big guns let alone attempt to mask her presence from the other, but there had been something that Sabra could never have known in a million years for she did not run around town advertising this. Her legal guardian and teacher had been no other than Alairic, Zeth’s estranged parental unit [and what a strange little man ‘lairic is]. Interred within her very mind and essence were the oldest and iniquitous spells of all, and yet Bri continued with the parlor tricks.

Why, you ask? Perhaps, in a way, they frightened her and shook her down to the core. Or perhaps she had merely grown soft after having children. Then again, it could be like using a nuke to kill a mosquito, which would be amusing. Maybe that’s why Santa never brings me what I want every year.

With spells, there were always loopholes and methods to reverse the consequences as long as you weren’t dead anyway. Briallan knew this as she knew the sun ascended in the east and descended in the west. As sure as a lab wants his ball [or at least mine lol], there were ambiguities to any enchantment. Magic is the art of changing consciousness and physical reality according to will, and Briallan’s will seemed almost unrivaled when it came to the things she desired most.

Whoever said that I had been really trying, love? Again, you know nothing.

Just as a wound would be cauterized, the blackened frost had been her way of providing Briallan with more time to counter the poisoned energy invading her body; another skill that came in handy at times. A lot of blood had been spilt this night and the effects of these injuries were not obvious in the steadfast glare that never wavered from Sabra’s own.

Giving Zeth’s hand a squeeze, the realization of what this “psychic vampire” was in the process of attempting with her formed in the “Fort Knox” portion of her mind. All these piddly kindygarten games were enough to make Bri want to go inside for some juice and a nap [sorry. I’m awfully tired and whacked out. lol]. It had been like slipping some cyanide in one’s tea and it always worked like a charm, the energy skipping across her aura had been polarized quite suddenly and without warning. Alairic’s brats used to play those games with her when they were children. C’mon, babe. We’re in the big leagues now.

Alone, her powers were watered down and could not reach their full potential. Good news for Sabra, except for the fact that Briallan had a backup plan [because she’s clever like that] and a backup after that. There was a strict CYA policy with Briallan. At the moment, the nasty gut wound seemed under control, the frozen chunks of blackened flesh doing their job and her talisman doing the rest. Centered once more, she made an effort not to allow this formidable opponent to dislodge her from this state of being.

Perhaps this woman was not of the mortal flesh, but all beings are bound to the universal laws. No matter the resources an individual had or claimed to have at their fingertips, there were laws that constrained these powers. Even “God” reigned within these laws and could not do as he damn well pleased. An individual could never break these rules, but there was always the potential for some rule bending and Briallan was a wonderful rule bender.

Her form not parting from Zeth’s even as Sabra approached ready to mete out additional injuries, Briallan remained unafraid and fed from the pain coursing throughout her body. Of course she could feel her body fighting off the enchantment within her, but to allow it to rule her would be deadlier still. She would have to pay Zeth back for the damages soon to be incurred. Why? Because Bri liked using nukes to kill mosquitos.

[I didn't really proof this and I'm tiiiiired.. so I'm sorry if something dun make much sense, but I'm going to bed. >.< ]
