The metal object remained warmed by his body heat as it hit the palm of her hand and her fingers closed around the piece. However what wasn't seen was how the ring morphed from golden to cherry red and back to gold as her spell had been cast. All Lavinia wanted was a family. To have a mother and a father. To wake up christmas morning and bouncing on her parents' bed until they both got up and they could open presents together. Or those pesky family roadtrips that usually involved papa getting lost and mamma nagging until they pulled over for directions or a potty break. Her features remaining blank, the child offered the ring back seemingly unchanged.
