Hi Diane - what a shame about your orange tree! I am a member of the "black thumb" club as well. I'd give my eye teeth for a delicious Florida orange. I even went so far to order some from Flamingo Groves last year. The oranges we get here in California are awful! A friend of mine was telling me about some kind of disease that hit your palms as well - is that still happening? We re-landscaped our front and backyards and had a bunch of palm trees planted, but they aren't nearly as lovely as the Royal palms we had in Florida. Can you believe we are halfway through August already? My kids all go back to school on 8/27 - summer has flown by way too fast. Take care.

Isn't it funny that things have changed? When we first moved here from California 30 years ago, all my mother did was complain about the florida oranges. I guess she will always feel that Sunkist oranges are the best. I just love oranges of any kind. The tree I planted was a Honey Bell tangelo. It's a cross between a grapefruit and a tangerine,I think. The few I got last year were great. Right now there is some kind of litigation going on about the removal of non-affected trees. So they won't be chopping mine down for three months.
