Subject: Farce ... Seconds True Story

So the seconds came to sticky end on Saturday . The match report forgets to mention the true story of how team spirit disappeared with the fading light .

Coming into bat at late mid order , and the only players to trouble the scorer being Robert 22 and Mike 14 , I was left with the prospect of trying to pick the score rate up. Despite my fellow batsmen losing their wickets at a canter , I manage to notch up 15 runs in the pitch dark with Thunder and lightening crashing around the field . In the 20th over , and needing quick runs we lost our second to last batsmen with the first ball . A no ball , 1 missed ball , and then a single by for Kev , brought me to the crease. The first ball went for four and the next kept low off the leg.

At this time my fellow players were taking in the boundary markers, moving the score board across the line of sight and disappearing into the changing room. Asking how many more were required I was told 1 more run was required by the scorer, if we were to win by run rate... Unfortunately as you could not see the ball in the dark , I was bowled trying to move the ball away from the leg.

On returning to the changing rooms , I find out that we only needed to stay in ... not what i was told when batting .

Leaving the ground I felt let down by the fact that nobody had stayed to see the fight to win the match !!!!!! nuff said.
