Slowing eventually, his coat streaked with the sweat of exertion and excitement, he tossed his head as he dropped down to an easy canter and carried on a proud procession down the track as time stood still and his heart slowed its mad flight. In the calm that follows the hurricane's fury, the dark warrior steadied himself as his canter gradually transitioned to a trot and he mouthed at the bit, content to heed its pull in a rare moment of cooperation. Partners in this glorious effort, the colt held a new respect for the hands that guided him and he carried her still with a willing quiet grace. Perhaps this only marked the beginning of a return to his calling...
