Damn. He was good. She'd underestimated him. Still, she stuck her chin out defiantly. "No," she replied bluntly, but not meeting his gaze, or else he'd know she was lying. Her glassy blue eyes were truly the windows to her souls, and you could read her emotions if you met them. By hiding her eyes, she hid her feelings. She still was uncomfortably aware of his hand on her shoulder.
