From the fringes of society...
Dark eyes snapped from within the tanned face as the young woman made her way toward the bright lights of Downtown. The sound of people and cars provided a background noise in which she could collect her thoughts without the stillness of complete solitude. Her teeth briefly bit her bottom lip in a display of contained frustration and anxiety. One hand self-conciously smoothed the front of her shirt, did she look acceptable to the others? The others...the name she had given to any human being besides herself and her parents. The thought of her parents caused her lip to curl in mild irritation. She had come to get away from them. And so, with fury in every step, the woman entered this new world.
