I lived around Kenner and Metairie and left before Katrina struck. I was so nervous while we were travelling. I didn't know if I would ever see home again. I am fifteen years old and am temporarily living in a small town in Texas. So many people have come to our door, asking if they could help. They have donated food and clothing they didn't need, and we are so grateful. The men of our house went back to survey the damage and salvage what they could before leaving again. They said we have minor damage and it was miserable down there. No air conditioning, disgusting smells, and dirty water. I was relieved that I still have a home to go home to, unlike some of the depressing stories we have heard on the news. Even so, I don't think I'll ever mentally recover from having to leave for this emotional and saddening storm. All thoughts and prayers appreciated. Mine are with all who have nothing left.
