Subject: Seeking Professional Service

My husband can’t help himself. That why I am here as his surviving spouse. My husband was a former Marine in 1965-1969. He committed suicide in October of 1973. I have been seeking survivors benefit from the VA through the years, all to no result. In my opinion, my husband committed suicide as a direct result of his service in Vietnam. I have medical records to show that while in country, my husband was hit in the mouth with a butt of a rifle, and I assumed this was in combat. Once my husband returned to civilian life, he has had many problems. Some in service that I notice, but didn’t pay to much attention too. These problems led to him taking his own life. I have multitude of records that shows my husband was suffering from something once he returned from Vietnam. He was an entirely different person upon his return. My husband’s employer (Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.) kept a paper trial indicating instances where my husband just went off the charts in dealing with those he worked with each day “before” he ended his life. My husband quit his job twice. The first time, I was able to have them put on sick leave, providing he get some help for his issues. The second time he quit it was a done deal at that time, my husband was only 27 years old. The VA Medical Center, Brecksville, Oh, from 4/17/1973-5/03/1973, where he was a patient was reviewed and considered. The final diagnoses were anxiety neurosis and paranoid personality. The VA responded. “It would require to resort to speculation to conclude the veteran had post-traumatic stress disorder. It would further require to resort to speculation to conclude that the claimed post-traumatic stress disorder was the direct and proximate cause of the veteran’ suicide. Therefore, the evidence you submit must relate to this fact.” What I gather from the VA. I need a psychiatrist or a psychologist to review and to evaluate his records that I have. I am having a hard time finding someone to do that for me. My back is against the wall. I need some help with this one. Does anyone have any ideas?
