One place to find it is on his dd214 (discharge papers)

try getting with a Vet center in your state they can help.

Local Veteran administration can help can get you a copy of his dd214

local vet groups VVA (Vietnam veterans of America), DAV (Disabled American Veterans), VFW (Veterans of Forieign Wars), AL (American Legion) (all at no cost)

State senators office
