Subject: good health statement required to return home

Hello, In March of 1966, I was processed out of Vietnam at Tan Son Nhut after serving a year with the 1st Infantry. At the time I was ill and had been for some time. A form was presented to me for my required signature that I was free of illness. After asking what would happen if I didn't sign, I was informed I was to remain in Vietnam until well.
Since I wasn't getting well, I had no intention of remaining there with improper care any longer, so signed the form , and was not provided a copy. A few years ago when living in Iowa, I gave an agent orange physical to VA
in Iowa City. I mentioned to them about the form I signed.
Reluctantly, he said a few were at that time were required to sign that form, however the letters were pulled and destroyed so that no evidence would exit that anyone was denied an opportunity to report anything for the record. This effectively prevents me or anyone from claiming compensation or disability. I would appreciate any info corncerning this experience. Thank you. Brent
