I'm a vet VN 69-70 (DONGTAM MIEKONG DELTA) so yes I've been there. Yes you're always going to find those that claim to have served, that's why the government made it a federal crime to claim to have been a Vet when they were not. As for your thoughts on the anger management, I tried one of those classes several years ago, lasted about 3 sessions and left, you can't tell me how I feel, if you haven't been there, and I'll talk when I want to and about what I want to WHEN I want to not because you say I must.
As for having to prove that you were involved, almost all have some dealings with that. (I do a self help PTSD class every Friday at the VA hospital in Birmingham, Al, and have for 12 years, I'm one of the two moderators of the class appointed by the other Vets, and I work with vets on the internet all over the country) As for how you feel about how the American Legion is handling your case, I can understand that, but on their behalf not all post get the information they need as fast as they should, I find that here in the state of Alabama that the DAV can help the most as they have someone in the state office of the VA and have better first hand access to the new information, not even some of our local VA offices get the information in a timely manner.
AS for you not telling people you're a Vet that your right, but you should be proud of it, you didn't go to Canada, you are intitled to and due the respect of being a Vet.
I would like to suggest that you get involved with a local VET support group ( someone that has been there, knows how you feel, have the same problems as you, and most of all they don't judge you ). BIGGEST THING IS DON'T LET THEM GET THE BEST OF YOU AND GIVE UP!!!! WELCOME HOME!!!
If you would like to talk more feel free to e-mail me, I love talking to other Vets.

A Friend amongst all the mess

Larry
