Subject: Hello Everyone

I’m not even going to look at the date of my last post as I already know it was months and months and months ago.

So what’s the scoop? How about a quick check in and some comments on the plans for the board?

And you know, I’d love to read how everyone’s been doing if anyone feels like sharing.

Let’s start with a check in. Life has been…life for the last year. You know, family issues, work issues, and just can’t keep up with everything issues. So to quickly summarize:

Family issues are way too complicated to get into right now. The simplest way for me to put it – okay, there is no simple way to put it, but know I received some crippling news regarding my brother that left me in a daze wondering how this particular scenario in this day and age is possible, let alone acceptable. I’ve kept it together for the most part, functioning through each day, but it’s been hard as it’s never out of my mind. And the situation hasn’t changed, if anything it’s deteriorated even more. Other than that, the DH, DS and DD are all healthy and doing well.

Work has always been an issue with me, but this past year has shown me that what I thought was too much before was nothing compared to what I have going on now. My business has grown substantially, and keeps me busy for 70 hours or more each week, not counting the hours I sneak in on the weekend. It’s insanity. But I like what I do, and for the most part, manage to cope.

What I haven’t managed to cope with is the craft of writing. Since writing is the balance I require, I’m hoping to change my habits.

LOL is the place to do that. I’ve lurked over the summer at the other boards, feeling the nostalgia, missing the people that I once communicated with daily. But obviously, the LOL community is here to stay and is where I’d like to be. So let’s get down to the bones of this post.

Back in the days when I was a newbie, the Lit Forum was where I came with my morning cup of coffee and there was always something new for me to read. Then one day I was brave and posted my first excerpt on this board and was introduced to a whole new world. And I miss it. So…

There are things I’d like to bring back to the Literary Forum. Homework being one. The Christmas story another. Goals if anyone is interested. And my ultimate goal here is to have posts requesting a critique. Can you imagine? Pure bliss!

And that’s that. What do you think? Any ideas? Any and all comments welcome!

Hugs

Esther

[> I'm in -- Lady Morilka, 01:48:31 09/16/13 Mon

My life has changed substantially and I am still trying to find a routine that suits me.
The little ones are quite demanding ;) (who would have guessed *g*) and so is the big house and the garden, especially now at "harvesting time". Computer is out of reach of my normal working area, so quite neglected. And our big girl just started kindergarden till noon, meaning I have to juggle cooking and picking her up (without car) with the needs of the little one. So the morning usually goes by with chores and the afternoon with kids.
Adding to that that DH just started a new job and the weekends are full too, I usually collaps into bed by 9pm.
But I would love to read new stuff here more often and would be especially gratefull for crit if I post stuff.

I can imagine how busy you are! And wow! Your oldest is in kindergarten; it doesn’t seem like that much time has passed. Baby Leona must be getting big by now too! Hopefully she allows you to get some rest. And to harvest your bounty between hiking up to the school to pick up your oldest. I’ve done some canning this fall, and even though my kids are older they still keep me busy, so I’m usually up late at night trying to get it all done, most of the time setting the timer to wake me up to take the jars out of the pressure canner before I stumble off to bed. *G*

We’ll have to do something about that neglected computer though. It doesn’t bode well for the project you had on the go. How’s that going?

The project is going slow, but not forgotten, even sold my first pattern on ravelry ;) and hit 100 downloads with a free chart.
Havn't lost sight of the real goal, a book, though. That were patterns that didn't fit any of the concepts.
