My boyfriend has been lying to me off and on for the past seven years about using meth. Just when I start to trust him again, I find out that he is using. Please remember if you use meth that it devastates so many people besides yourself. I love him so much and I am so lost. This site has helped me however, to set my anger and frustration aside, and see his side for a change. I will never understand why people will do meth, but I will also never forget the power that it has to destroy everything around it. I pray for everyone who does this drug, and for everyone that is in love with someone who does meth.

hi my boyfriend is a recovery drug addict. He was doing it for a very long time. And just a couple of months ago he admitted to me that for the first two and half years of our relationship he was using and hiding it from me. It hurt me so bad because that means i never really knew the real him. And now he's trying to recover and it is so hard for us. We have a little girl who is two and our relationship of fighting a lot is taking a toll on her. I'm trying to understand where he;s coming from but at the same time he is pushing me away and it hurts because he has put me through a lot whne he was on drugs. and know he says he changed but how do i believe him when he was using for two and half years and lied and said he wasn't. He also makes everything out to be my fault whne all i'm trying to do is help him. I love him so much that it hurts that he is treating me so bad. I'm trying to look for support groups to help me. What else can i do ?

Hi my older brother is a heroin addict and he has used everyone so badly that now nobody will help him. I would like to help him more, but I have family and small children around. When i use to let him stay he would come here high falling over. When he stays at my mothers house he tries attacking them. We are very worried about him we do not know what to do he tells us what he wants help, but when it comes to him he makes up some sorry excuse to what isnt gonna happen. I LOST EVERYTHING WHEN METH ENTERED MY LIFE. lIFE BECAME ONE BIG PARTY. I WAS TO FAR GONE TO LISTEN TO ANYONE. NOW CLEAN I LOOK BACK ON THE IMPACT MY DRUG USE HAD ON MY SON. I MISSED SEEING HIM GROW UP. SO MUCH HAD HAPPENED IN MY LIFE THAT I CANNNOT CHANGE. I HAVE HURT ALOT OF PEOPLETHAT LOVE ME. I USED METH TO SHUT OFF MY EMOTIONS BECAUSE I DIDNT WANT TO FEEL HURT. FOR ME I HAD TO BE PUT IN JAIL TO FORCE MYSELF TO LOOK AT MY PROBLEM. I HAD BEEN HIGH ON METH EVERYDAY USING, I HAD NOT BEEN THINKING THE WAY I KNEW HOW TOO. THE PERSON I WAS AND THE PERSON I BECAME VERY DIFFERENT. THE DRUG HAD TAKEN ITS TOLL ON ME I WAS ALWAYS SICK AND DEPRESSED. AFTER GETTING OUT OF JAIL I FIANLLY SOUGHT HELP FOR MY ADDICTION. MY SO CALLLED FRIENDS DISSAPPERED BUT MY FAMILY STAYED BY MY SIDE. I ATTENTED A 90 DAY REHAB. THERE I FOUND OUT I WAS NOT ALONE. I LEARNED HOW TO DEAL WITH PROBLEMS GOOD OR BAD WITHOUT USING. I TRIED TO HANG OUT WITH OLD FRIENDS BUT WHILE SITTING THERE I REALIZED THE ONLY THING THAT HAD CHANGED WERE THEIR ADDRESS. EVERYTHING ELSE WAS THE SAME IF NOT WORSE. I HAVE TO MANY THINGS GOING FOR ME AND MY FAMILYS TRUST. THERE IS NOT A DAY THAT GOES BY THAT I DONT THINK ABOUT USING BUT I KNOW I DONT EVER WANT TO GO BACK THERE. I DONT WANNA SPEND ANOTHER DAY OR SHOULD I SAY WASTE ANOTHER DAY ON METH. I HAVE THE CHOICE AND I CHOOSE LIFE. I WOULD TELL ANYONE THAT IS USING OR THINKING ABOUT IT THAT YOU THINK THE DRUG IS GREAT YOU THINK YOU HAVR ALL THESE FRIENDS JUST WAIT YOUR IN FOR A LONG BUMPY DEAD END. I NEVER DREAMED THAT I WOULD DO SOME OF THE THINGS I DID DURING MY DRUG USE. I TURNED INTO SOMEONE EVERYONE INCLUDING MY SELF HATED. METH IS A MONSTER AND IT IS HARD TO LEAVE BEHIND BUT IT IS POSSIBLE. I KNOW KNOW THAT I HAVE THE STRENGTH TO OVER COME ANY OBSTACLE.

I am trying to find a short term residence for my son who is 24. He has Bi Polar.The badest thing that he had done is killed a cat. He is in a A.O.T program, because he has a history of refusing to take his Meds.also being that he told his Case worker that he doesn't like him and that he doesn't want him coming around to check on him, they want him in a long term residence. they haven't given him a chance at short term yet. I am a 13 year old A+ student. I was addicted to pot acid and alcohol. I got addicted on my very 1st try of the drugs, as for alcohol i just kept on craving it, my parents had no idea what i was going threw sadly, i didn't want to tell them, at the age of 12 i ran away and became a bp (baby prostitute) wich i will never ever do again because it is the most scaryest things ever! then one day my friend Kyla started getting very sick (she was an acid adict) and died 3 days later after that i quit cold turkey because i was so upset and ashamed of my self and dissapointed i finally told my parents and they got me into counciling and i have had tones of offerings of pot and acid heroin practically everything but i have not said yes becuase i will not put my self threw the torture ever again it is horiable and scary every time i took acid i would think spiders were trying to eat me and the i would be scratching my face so hard it would bleed! anyways what im trying to say it stay away from drugs and if you are already hooked get help NOW! over the year i have lost many friends towards drugs and i have been helping the familys get threw the hard time!! thank-you for the oprotunity to tell my story!

After 28 years of using, I will be clean 3 years on April 28, 2004. My life has gone from active addiction, visiting many rehabs and treatment facilities to working in a treatment facility. From being locked up over 100 times and serving 2 prison sentences, running from parole and probation officers to being called on by them to assist them in finding help for their actively using parolees and probationers. From hating God to having a most loving relationship with a awesome God of my understanding. This has given me the ability to give unconditional love in all the relationships that I have today. You see, I found out that this God of my understanding has been with me always, thats why I am alive and here today to share this with others. I have to give thanks to my higher power for carrying me to NA where I was given the hope I needed to live and not use just one day at a time, because thats how I got to where I am today.

To any of you out there trying to help your brothers and sisters friends and pals with addictions . The only way you can do this is first tell them they are living in it and may not see it, and you as what ever you are to them are seeing them rip themselves apart. But reality check from an experianced abuser is that until the abuser wants to stop abuse themselfs there is nothing in the whole wide world that you can do or offer until that person hits rock bottom and says I AM AN ADDICT OF (WHAT EVER IT MAYBE)You can not help! Some of you are whatching other people like your neices and nephews That are completely inocent and should not have to see that.Be draged up and down and if you gave any kinda of a care to the incocent people involed you would report the abuser and at least give the innocent a chance. It is important that you be there when the abuser comes to reality and admits to their addiction. It is important that you keep in touch with the innicent that may have been taken away from there home. But also important that you keep contact between the abuser and the innocet seperate. This may cause problems for the family that has decied to help this innocent child involed.There are tons of support groups and web sites and the best kind of help out there but until the addicted want to help them selfs there is not much you can do. There was afew people i saw who where dealing with adh, and other behavior problems and be aware that mental illness and drug addiction are not the same thing but have simlar effects some people would say that drug addiction is an illness but it is not do to chemical imbalance at birth. It has not been proven yet. adh and other mental illness espeailly in children have been succsessfully decraesed with massage therapy, crainal sacral thearpy, tissue memory therepy and even going as far into communicating with the human cells. This can also be very affective with recovering addicts but much more trama to adults then children. look up any of these subjects on the internet and you can even find the results of people who have tried it any way peace and love to all of you. and if you got some questions let me know.

Hi Everyone my name is Jennifer, i have two younger sisters one is 19 and the other 20 they are both addicted to drugs, everything you can think of. My youngest sisters was an heroin user, and prostitute, my other sister is addicted to cocaine and anything eles she can get her hands on, they are both in very abusive relationships with older men.
My youngest sister who is 19 has been in foster care for 5 years, My other sister has been jumping from one bad relationships to the next, both of them dropped out of school in gr.8 they have no education. They are severly depressed, and just yesterday i witnessed my 20 yr old sister try and kill herself because her biyfriend left her, and it wasn"t the first time she has tried. I have tried with both of them and am still trying to help them everyway possible, but there boyfriends and drugs are there life.........my framily is falling apart, and i am loosing the battle with them. I'm scared and don't know what to do anymore, people tell me tough love is the answer, i don't know what to do anymore! All i can do is pray that they are safe. I am a nurse with 11 years of sobriety. I went through a wonderful rehab program in St. Johnsbury, Vermont in May of 1992. I entered the TPAPN (Texas Peer Assistance Program For Impaired Nurses), in May of 1992, completeing this in 1994. Though life has delt me many ups and downs I continue to remain sober. It can be done. I am living proof. Anyone needing help in the state of Texas please do not be afraid of entering the Texas program for nurses. It is the best thing I have ever done! That and remaining sober!

I am very worried about a close friend of mine who confessed to me recently she is addicted to Neurofen Plus. I noticed some time ago she seem to take more than she needed, but ignored it, not really knowing how much of a problem it actually was. I know that it all stems back to various problems and she is also on Prozac. I dont know how to give her advice about it, other than see a Doctor, which she keeps saying that she will. She drinks too much, and I know that is how she is dealing with all her underlying problems. I'm really worried because I think something terrible is going to happen to her, as she is having lots of health problems for instance bloatiness, nausea, lower back pains all pointing to liver failure. How can I help her. Please Help.

This message is for anyone who is struggling with an addiction, whatever it may be, first of all remember that you are a member of the human race regardless of how terrible you may feel at this time,secondly remember that god gave you life,and you are important to god and the rest of the world however insignificant you may feel at this time in your life. Thirdly remember that no matter how low,depressed,and strung out you feel right now,some one else is going thru the same torment that you are. I have been aware of my sisters addiction for some time now,
I have been looking for information on crystal meth and how I can help her in a discreet way, therefore she has become suicidal, violent, towards everyone who disrespects her in her mind. Hi eveyone, I'm new to this website and frankly looking for answers. I was abstinent from alcohol for 4 yrs. but still struggled with depression and not being able to concentrate or sit still with up's and downs. Going back to drinking to cure my inability to sit still or find and relaxation or peace, I re-started by search for a Dr. to help. I was then dignosed with Bi-Polar and told that many alcoholics are mis-diagnosed because of their inability to sit still. My new meds seemed to work for a while, but still realized that I had to be doing something every minute. Thru difficulties with my son, he was diagnosed ADHD and now I'm looking at this possiblity with myself. Anyone out there with anything to shed light on this subject, please contact me. Thanks

Can someone please help me understand what addiction is & how I can tell an addicted personality?? I think my friend may have a possible addiction to precreiption medication (tylenol/codine?). He has a chronic back problem also. I had a prescription for tylenol/codine in my cabinet (12 pills) for surgery I had & never used that medication. My friend called me one day & said he was sorry that he had taken all the pills in my cabinet. I didn't even know they were gone or what pills he meant. I had 1 refill left on the prescription & he asked me to fill it. I did and in a weeks time those (12) pills were gone too. Now I look back & think he only told me initially about the missing pills incase I went looking for them to use. He also, I feel, has an alcohol problem. I have noticed him drinking heavily at times. Drinking & throwing/hiding Rumpleminz bottles in my trash & drinking early in the morning. I'm afraid for his health. Does it sound like this person has had the medication problem prior to me finding out he took all those pills or is this something that he just could have done because he had no medication at home & just wanted to have some available incase his back was bothering him. I'm beginning to feel duped & think he really has a problem. His eyes are dead & flat like there is no life there. They looked that way when I first met him. I believe he numbs himself & he is emotionaly shut down. What are some symptoms of pain medication addiction & alcohol addiction. I notice his extremities are always cold (arms,legs, feet, hands). One time he drank a whole bottle of Smirnoff vodka & got like the shakes. He layed in bed in the fetal position and his body was having spasms & he was really out of it. Please help me. He doens't think he has a problem with alcohol, but I have never discussed the prescription meds. This person is 51 years old & I don't think he is willing to change or can. Thank you.

after 20 years of substance abuse, I was committed to a treatment facility. 6 mos. in 6 mos. out. There I was introduced to the most rigorous self searching, A.A. N.A., C.A., what a great feeling it was finally understanding addiction. I have relapsed/regenerated a couple times after that. One period lasting several months. Another clean and sober year lies behind me now. I am now enrolled in school. I can't express my gratitude for the people-other recovering addicts/alcoholics- who have give me the tools to become an interdependant human being.

I'm a nurse in recovery looking to visit with any other medical professionals in recovery. I have been active in several 12 step programs since 1987, including AA, NA, CA, CoDA, ACOA, and probaly qualify for lots more! I have been off of IV drugs since 1987, off of alcohol since 1989, and three years ago started my current sobriety date after misusing prescription muscle relaxers. I know its hard to "come out" in your hometown but I also know how rewarding it is to not have any "secrets" hanging over your head. Recovery has been wonderful for me:-)! Thank you for this website. After a night of doing alot of cocaine, all by myself, I realized that I need help. I was afraid to go to any meetings in public, because I didn't want anyone to know I was an addict. I am what you call a "Funtional Addict". I found this website and it has been wonderful for me.
