Subject: Trying to identify a polar bear patch

I'm trying to identify a patch of my uncle's.

He served over two years on Amchitka, Aleutian islands from 1942 to 1945.

His stuff is marked with an insignia of a Polar Bear face and a Singe Red Star.

Can anyone identify this insignia?
