Dear N. Burnette,

I see you are looking for 86th BS patches. My father served in the 86th in WWII. The patch pictured on the squadron site is the 2nd pattern (wolf throwing a bomb). My father served in the unit when the patch was the 1st pattern (skull thumbing its nose) and might have been partially responsible for the change in unit insignia change. (He was shot down in Nov 44 and was almost shot by the Italians since they thought he was an SS officer). I can send you pix of his patch.
