I never had "face to face" combat, we just hit the beach to take the troops in. Some machine gun fire and morters and aircraft bombs, but no face to face combat. I was only 17 by that time and didn't understand why the "old" guys were so worried. They had wives and children back home. Now, I know why. I learned the appreciation of life through the sacrifice of others. I learned the difference in "Freedom"
and "Regulations" through military structure. Beware of a "Military" government. Regulated life tends to become a "little more," and then more and more. Military life is not "FREEDOM." Civilians must "maintain" the "Balance of power." - - - - -
