They make specific references even in Chapterhouse and Heretics to "Atreides genes". This to me seems to refer to the specific fact that it is the Atreides paternal line that has been augmented you could say to the point where it ALWAYS comes up with weird and interesting powers. They make a big deal of the fact that it is only "Atreides genes" that can do this. No others.
That's really unrealistic though that this line would be the ONLY gentic line in humanity that would have innovations.
It seems that the whole point of the Scattering and so forth was to bring about different combinations of genes so that with the gentic diversity humans would have a greater chance of surviving.
But the only genetic line that sprouts powers are the Atreides?
That seems a little absurd scientifically speaking, that's all.
Even with breeding its a bit far fetched.
I mean the Bene Gesserit had been breeding programs through all the great houses for millenia. Yet only the Atreides genes somehow spawn fantastic powers?
