I wonder how many people in the world absolutely hated the Grateful Dead and their music? Millions hated them and continue to do so, but that didn't stop me from loving their music.
I have seen the Grateful Dead 30+ times, The Dead w/Jimmy and Joan twice, The Dead w/ Jimmy and Warren twice, The Other Ones w/Mark and Steve, The Other Ones w/ and w/o Phil, The Other Ones w/Jimmy, Phil and Phriends w/ Warren and Jimmy, Ratdog dozens of times, and DSO.
I think that makes me fairly qualified to give a pretty good opinion of the band and the music they make, so let me break it down for ya. I friggin' love them and wouldn't change a thing.
Ya know, I just love Grateful Dead music, especially by a band that really knows how to play it and DSO definitley does!! If I were in any bar, club etc. in the world, and a band was playing rock and roll and decided to play a Grateful Dead tune and could do it well, then I would be a happy camper, so I don't see what the fuss is all about here.
Rob and John and the rest of DSO and the crew. Don't change a fucking thing. You bring happiness, joy, and a phat fucking groove to hundreds of thousands of people who love it, so your definitely doing something right.
Do you remember the guy in the Grateful Dead movie who is just going on and on about what a rip off it is and he is just doing it for his 10 mins. of fame? That's what this reminds me of.
Bootsy, Ramblin' Rose, and anybody else certainly have their opinion and they are entitled to it, but it's not gonna change a damned thing to people who really dig what you guy's do, so just keep truckin' on.
