...there I was... on vacation... in Oregon... camped for a night about halfway up the Eagle Creek valley. (just above Tunnel Falls for those of you who know the area)

I had on this dye that I had bought at Nelson from a nice guy there who had some bright shiny colors. In fact, I had gone through this whole silly ritual of retiring a favorite old dye by burning it rather than letting it fall apart or sit in a drawer. The new dye was pretty cool - not a replacement, but at least covered my back.

Along comes a young couple backpacking down the trail (from Wahtum lake for those familiar...) and the guy greets me with "nice dye". I say "thanks" and mention that I got it at Nelson. Right away he wants to know how the shows were and wishes he could have made it out to Ohio. Says he just can't wait for the upcoming NW shows. We chat about the review board a little too, but not much. ;^)

That was nice. I've said it before and I'll say it again. At very least, DSO provides a valuable service of helping us connect with one another, and that is a very good thing.
