I always find it helpful to talk with those "squatting out" their spots around you before the show starts. That way you can usually work as a group to prevent people from barging in. This also is helpful in scouting out a spot for shorter people in front of you that will not block your view of the stage, and in making it easier to return to your spot during the show. I don't think its a good idea to just let people move in without letting them know its wrong (to whatever degree you are willing to take it), it will just encourage more people to do the same. Stop them now and maybe it will not continue.
