Greg,
My heart and soul go out to Tara, her mother, you, and your entire family. I wish there was something, anything I could say or do to lift the shadow of this awful cloud that has come into your lives....I know everyone in this extended family will feel the same.
Not long ago one of my only 4 cousins, Tara, (my favorite, in fact) came down from her home in Maine to go to school just up the road in Philadelphia, ironically. I am certain that your Tara is every bit as beautiful and vivacious as she....and I have every hope and prayer that your Tara will leave Philadelphia the same way as my cousin Tara....happy, healthy, strong in spirit, enveloped in the arms of her loving family, and looking to the brightest of futures.
Having grown up near Philly, I can tell you that Children's Hospital is one of the best, if not THE best, child health care facilities in the world. Miracles happen there.
Like you I grew up Catholic (altar boy, even). My experiences in this faith we ahare have only been positive and life-affirming and I hope yours have too. Rather than indoctrinate me into 'religion' or rituals (I hardly observe any more), they truly introduced me to the Spirit that life has only deepened for me. The same Spirit that moves in all things good. The Spirit that we feel through music we love. The Spirit that fills our hearts when we look upon those we love so dearly. The Spirit that sustains us through our darkest hours. The Spirit that is with you and your family at this moment, though your pain be great.
Please forgive me if I sound evangelical or such (I am about as far from that as I can imagine). Quite the opposite, in fact. I say this to you only because I have witnessed its power in my own life, never needing to give due to earthly shackles of 'religion'. I say this because I just plain feel that it will come to Tara's and your lives.
Whatever form it may take, the power of many loving hearts calling on, channeling, moving, joining, lifting the Spirit is what brings miracles. Call it prayer, good vibes, or whatever you like, TARA will be getting mine each and every day from here. Everyone I can contact will know her name and hear your plea.....and for her we will all move the Spirit.
Godspeed,
Tyler
P.S. Please let us all know if (and where) we can send cards, toys, or anything that may put a smile on Tara's face and help your family through.....Peace, Greg.
