that's what started my thyroid issues, I have a friend who had post partum(sp? -it's early) rhematoid arthritis. Hers went into remission after about a year, but she knows it will come back at some point and after any subsequent kids.

My thyroid issues I am told will be worse with each subsequent child and since low birth weight is an issue for the child it explains why my babies kept getting smaller (the really weird thing is each child weighed 6 oz less and was an inch shorter). It can also trigger pre-term labor although they never really said that last time around.

As to why doctors don't check it out more often? You got me on that one. I really think that PP women should have a 2, 4 and 6 week check up along with a 4 month. Complete with full blood panels and some really close watch of symptoms that lots of people just write off as new baby.

Christine, I'm so sorry. I had a horrible time recovering after Ryan - mostly because the thyroid issue got really bad before we diagnosed it. I remember wondering why I'd ever wanted a baby. It was supposed to be happy and it wasn't etc. My issues weren't nearly as threatening, but I remember wondering if everyone felt so lousy and devoid of joy. Please just give yourself some time to heal. It will get better and it will someday just seem like a blip on the screen of life. I'll be praying for you and your family. Keep us updated when you can.

Lots and lots and lots of love!
