She thinks good parents set up arbitrary rules and rule with an iron fist. My parents felt that created reasons to fight and didn't. Her stepkids (which they had sole custody of from ages 8 and 5) have both been on drugs, in jail, and married multiple times. My brother and I have niether one ever done drugs, hold college degrees, good stable jobs, and are married to only one person. Hmmm I wonder which plan worked best.

She argued with my dad that night that he should make me do my homework somewhere else. His response was when she quits making straight As while working a job and being involved in several extracurricular activities I'll address the issue LOL! She responded that he certainly wasn't raising his kids liked they'd been raised to which he replied "and so far having better luck." My dad's siblings are poster kids for parenting gone awry - well his sisters any way. His brother's aren't too bad, but of the 11 my dad is the only Christian.
