I wish to be,
like the towering trees,
that branches twine and twist,
like snakes of the wood,
brilliant green my leaves would show,
more than emerald or apple,
Would I be a mighty oak?
With branches stretched out to the sky.
Or would I be a gentle willow,
with branches hanging low like a greened curtain.
Would I be a gnarled apple tree,
bearing my dark green leaves and apples as red as rubies,
the tresures I hold high.
Would I be tall like the palm?
Leaves long and bark brown.
Or would I be a pine,
with my evergreen branches sparkling in the winter ice.
But sadly I know,
I will always just be me.
