Potty training is no different for a deaf dog than a hearing one.I suggest you sign up for a puppy class somewhere and start using your sign language. The trick is to use a hand sign for a command. You can use this site for help, http://www.aslpro.com/cgi-bin/aslpro/aslpro.cgi . Just look for the word like, sit, come, stay etc. and you will learn. All members of your family need to also learn the signs to be consistant, otherwise you won't be communicating properly and will confuse the dog. You should also pick a sign name for the dog. The best is to sign his name near your face so that he is looking at you and getting his attention. Thumping on the floor or waving infront of him is also another way to get his attention before signing. Communication is the key to making a deaf dog communicate and understand. Also go to Deaf Dog Atlas and get some of the books for recommended reading. It's worth it. Good luck !
