Subject: The complete history of Taco and the 144...

I offer this for posterity:

Taco once took an internet IQ test and immediately and proudly ran to the board to tell everyone he was a super genius with a 144 IQ, with an official certification from ruageniuzzz.com or some similar site.

He didn't realize those sites always give the person a sky high IQ score and then try to sell some kind of "personal intelligence report" (which taco undoubtedly purchased), or try to get the person to click on a bunch of other tests and whatnot, since every two bit jackhammer in the world is endlessly fascinated by his banal self.

It basically caused a board riot as everyone laughed their asses off about how goddamn stupid he was - not for lying about the 144, but for thinking the score from an internet IQ test meant anything at all, much less that one of the, ah, less bookish fellows on the board had truly proven himself to be a super genius.

There's some confusion as to that point, so I'm happy to clear things up. It wasn't that he lied about his score. It was just funny and adorable how naive he was about those kinds of sites, how readily he accepted the "proof" that he was something of a super genius, and how proud of himself he was sprinting to the board to show everyone, once and for all, that he was as smart as anyone else - and he had proof! It was cute more than anything, I still look back on it with a lot of fondness, not derision. This isn't Michael/Beer/Guns.

Taco immediately doubled down and stood by the score in the face of massive ridicule. It got brought up many times over many years before he switched tactics and tried to laugh along with it (which is clearly the right move; we all do stupid shit and you just have to laugh at yourself in life).

But taco recently seems to be doubling down yet again on the whole thing, mentioning another IQ test he took, this one from a more legitimate source - Johns Hopkins? - that presumably bolsters his claim on being a super genius. Maybe that's unfair. Although taco is still sticking to claims that he has a (presumably now meaningful) IQ score that would qualify him to be what society considers a "super genius", I don't believe he ever said outright that he was a genius, other than maybe when he was telling us his score that first time. That's part of what's so funny and adorable about it, at least for this poster. IMO it was never about taco trying to be superior, like you would assume with any other tool who bragged about his IQ score. No, I think he only offered up his high IQ just to "prove" that people shouldn't think him stupid. Like he was just trying to prove he was as smart as the next guy. Of course it's a fool's errand. If people think you're smart as hell or dumb as hell because of your history of posting, an IQ score sure as shit isn't going to change anything.
