馬會去年七月中公開招聘的副練馬師助理職位，反應雖相當理想，吸引數百位市民入紙申請，不過近月來一直盛傳此項招募計劃胎死腹中，直至上星期正式宣布流產，而順利過關一度接受培訓的廿五名學員，已收到馬會有關部門擱置計劃的正式通知。

　消息指出，導致副練馬師助理計劃告吹，原因之一是馬房寫字樓經不起現任馬房基層職員，尤其一群策騎員、副練馬師甚至練馬師的反對聲音，個別主更揚言即使馬會培訓出副練馬師助理，也不會接受入倉實習，蓋這對年來一直營營役役力爭上游的策騎員不公平，不單有爬頭之嫌，空降入職更嚴重打擊士氣，扼殺策騎員晉升副練機會，而且副練馬師助理職級高於策騎員及馬伕，極有可能出現新人指點舊人工作的弊端，完全違反和諧工作環境和氣氛的大原則。

　一位練馬師指出，副練馬師助理受訓的廿五位學員中，其實存在兩位資深策騎員、一位策騎員及一位男性馬主，其餘廿一位則為圈外人，前四位如何獲取錄受訓，已相當備受質疑，且足以影響求升任副練者心態。事實上被取錄的廿五位學員，除去年十一月曾參加一連三天於上水雙魚河舉行的訓練營外，原本於今年一月還有一個課程，最終亦宣布取消。不過各學員上周所獲的通知，註明馬會已儲存各人檔案，若他日有合適空缺仍會作出考慮，故全數被「叮」走的廿五位學員，或許尚未完全絕望。
