Subject: Lots of suggestion for veges. (m)

I've found the best way to get my kids to eat more veges is to give them some fresh veges before supper is ready. They are really hungry then and will eat way more this way. I like them to have fresh veges mostly and sometimes we give them dip. Dip can be yogurt or just salad dressing you already have or even ketchup if they like that.

Also low fat nacho chips with salsa can be another serving of veges if they eat enough salsa.

I've also given them fozen peas in the summer when it's hot and they loved it! Go figure?

Most breakfast cereals are fortified with iron and raisins have some in them too. Check out other dried fruits too for iron content.

You can cook in cast iron too to help with low iron levels.

If you child will drink V-8 juice then that is a serving of veges.

Kids will eat bits of veges steamed a bit and put on the end of a toothpick. You have to be careful with the ages of kids who eat this way though cause you don't want any choking accidents with the toothpicks.

I can't remember all the types of foods high in iron but the green leafy ones are the highest like spinach. We make fresh spinach salads and the kids love it. He might be a bit too young for the salads though. My kids wouldn't eat salads until last summer and now they really like them.

Good luck. I'm glad to hear everyone is recuperating.

Diane
