We have some of the same issues with Grant (tenderhearted, picked on by older kids). I find myself keeping a close eye on what he's doing and who he's hanging out with. I keep him sheltered from too much time near the older kids, and have taught him to leave if they start picking on him or talking about things he knows he shouldn't be around.

Angie's right... kids can be very mean even at this age. It's sad, but true. It's great that you called his teacher. I'm sure she appreciated the head's up about the situation, and hopefully things will change now.
