Yes, Ryan's Dr. sounds like an idiot. You are doing the right thing in looking into other options. Maybe you could do some research on hearing aids on the internet and see if there is one you like better than the one she has ordered and bring that to her attention. Put her on front street about it. Also, maybe you should talk to Ryan about his color preference. If he wants a different color than beige simply tell her that the beige won't work. It wasn't her place to assume that's what you wanted and it's your insurance that's paying for it. Don't let her push or bully you into something.

That said, I can only imagine how you feel about missing the Easter party. The highs and lows of being parents. Don't be too hard on yourself. We are human too, super human at times, but human none the less. I'm sure Ryan appreciated the fun things at home too.
