At Halloween, we started letting her keep 1/2 of what she gets as gifts and the other 1/2 has to go to the bank for college. We told her she could spend it whenever she wanted to or save it to buy something she really wanted. Well, it's been 6 months and she she hasn't spent one penny. Everytime we are out and she asks for something, I remind her she has money. She thinks and then says she would rather save it.

We did try giving her an allowance of $1/week if she did all her chores. But to be honest, she just put the money aside and it never really had any impact on her. It lasted 3 weeks and then the chores stopped.

Robin
