I am right handed, and I preferred to suck that thumb. I did suck the other thumb though, when it became necessary. For a while I was quite ambidextrous, but I broke my left arm when I was 9. It was in a cast for months, and has been pretty useless ever since.

Mostly I sucked my right thumb. I sucked blisters onto my thumb and it looked awul. So, my mother, trying to break me of the habit, put some kind of nasty tasting stuff on my thumb so I wouldn't suck it, so I sucked the other thumb, until it got blisters and looked horrible. So, she put the nasty tasting stuff on both thumbs, and I sucked it off, and gagged through it, and I may have thrown up, but I kept on sucking my thumbs. So my dad taped up my hands for a week with athletic tape, and I was really ticked off at him.

Anyway, it broke me of the habit, but I have scars on both thumbs to prove my devotion to them.
