it's much less dangerous than regular pneumonia, which has a mortality rate of 20-30%. SARS has a mortality rate of about 5%. However, it is very infectious and hits really quickly. But as Diane said, most of the people who die are old or sick, and have weaker immune systems to begin with.

Still, very nasty disease. I hope they get it under control soon.
