Is 12 too young for tampons or should I go ahead and give her the box and let her decide to try them when she is ready?

I got my period when I was 11. It just so happened a I had a pool party to go to that day. I lived with my grandparents, and my grandmother was clueless, so had to find out on my own. The day after I got it, I was reading the instructions and wearing Tampons

I know that I hated my periods more with all the messy pads. What would you do?

I don't wear pads...ever. Just yuck!

Did anyone say or do anything that made the experience special and easy?

I don't have anything that sticks out for special and easy...sorry!

Other extreme - did they do something that embarassed you or made you feel uncomfortable?
There is one thing that sticks out in my mind. When I was in 7th grade there was a girl who had her period and was wearing a pad, well the pad moved out of place and was sticking out over her pants. All of the kids were taking turns to sit behind her and make fun of her. Kids are cruel.

Just my experience...good luck!
