Of course we all know that ivillage is a corporation and as such, they have
no single true interest other than making money. That is why 35% of your
page is now advertisements, why you will NEVER get protections from trolls
and lurkers (such as requiring a login before reading) that you get from
other forums, etc. But do you really know what a huge mega-conglomeration
ivillage is? ivillage has just been purchased by Tesco. For those of you in
the USA, Tesco is the Wal-mart of the UK. Tesco, while claiming corporate
responsiblity and the like very activly engages in unethical activities
similar to WalMart, such as purchasing from only very large manufacturers
products manufactured in sweatshops, tested on animals, etc. Just like
WalMart, when Tesco moves in, Mom&Pops are shut out.
Some of you don't care - but for those who do, you should know who you are
supporting by "bearing with us through the changes".

The following is something posted by a FIRED ivillage employee on another
board. I will not provide the direct link to it, so as not to make things
any easier on the ivillage/parents place gestapo, but this is a verbatim cut
and paste. Nothing has been added or removed

YES CM's get paid, one was recently fired with NO warning due to cutbacks
recently.
Can't get fired again, so thought i'd let you in on disinformation you've
been receiving. Which is basically everything a CM or CL tells you (most)
and the FACTS are below.
That news at the beginning of this post may have been old news girls but it
shows you (partially) what Ivillage's tactics are and exactly how they put
the buck before the people .. sad for a site that toots it's horn about
being all for helping people.. they would shut the door tomorrow if it saved
them a dime. So the facts.

The stock was over a dollar in the news posted before this post, it's latest
52 week high was 2.70 and yesterday 4/2/03 closed at 0.61

You can also do a websearch and check news ivillage any time, here's a
little tidbit, they just started using a NEW pay per click content provider
(advertiser) each time you load a page different ads appear at the bottom,
should be very helpful when they implement the full functions of search
here's the release - The OLD boards couldn't handle the format of the
advertiser below, hence, the change.

iVillage Enters Into 20-Year License Agreement with Tesco.com

iVillage Enters Into 20-Year License Agreement with Tesco.com Subsidiary
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 18, 2003--

Agreement to Offer Greater Diversification of Revenue, Continued

UK Presence and Potential Cross Collateralization Opportunities

iVillage Inc. (NasdaqSC: IVIL), a leading women's media company and the
number one source for women's information online, today announced that it
has restructured the terms of its joint venture with Tesco.com Limited, a
division of Tesco PLC, the largest food retailer in the UK and Republic of
Ireland.

Tesco will purchase iVillage's ownership interest in iVillage UK Ltd.
(www.iVillage.co.uk), which will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tesco.
Additionally, the subsidiary has entered into an up to 20-year agreement
whereby it will license from iVillage content and intellectual property,
including trademarks and copyrights.

As part of the agreement, the entity will continue to operate under the
iVillage UK name and will provide users with the same content and offerings.
The license agreement is structured such that iVillage will receive the
greater of a set monthly fee or a percentage of gross revenue.

Douglas W. McCormick, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, iVillage Inc.,
said, "This move is another example of how we are not only executing on our
subscription and content-license strategy domestically, but also
internationally. Our agreement with Tesco creates a new stream of revenue
for iVillage and more deeply establishes our position as a leader in
supplying women's content. It also gives Tesco the potential ability to
cross-collateralize the iVillage relationship with other communication
vehicles including their ISP and offline retail outlets."

John Browett, Chief Executive Officer, Tesco.com, stated "To date we have
successfully exploited the combined brand equity and customer loyalty to
capitalize on the growth of the online women's market in the UK. Of all the
potential online media partners, iVillage has a clear lead in
community-based content. The site is outstanding and its growth will enable
Tesco.com to establish and further grow meaningful, lasting relationships
with customers."

iVillage.co.uk is expected to continue to receive significant marketing and
promotional support from Tesco to drive qualified traffic and continue to
brand iVillage.co.uk as the number-one women's network online in the UK and
the Republic of Ireland. Tesco's online and offline promotions have
historically consisted of in-store promotions, Tesco mailings, and
positioning on Tesco's Internet service provider (Tesco.net) and online
shopping site (Tesco.com).
