I don't think it will. I do know it depends upon which exact version of the Xterra you have, and if you have a 1 "DIN" or 2 "DIN" space for the stereo.

What makes me think it won't fit, is when you say, "currently has the plain old single CD changer unit right now". Which sounds like it won't fit an upgraded stereo.

I think the Rockford Fosgate only came in the SE, and that it only fits in an Xterra that could have had it as an option, whether or not it actually came with it. I think if you have a base model that you don't have the capacity to add the upgraded stereo.

But you might want to ask the nice folks at Xterra Parts dot com. Tell 'em Steve Fisk sent you, and I am certain they can tell you 100% for sure.
