Subject: 2001 Ball Joint ...Bigger issue sthan thought

Hello Folks...
I have a 2001 XTERRA SE. Great Vehicle. I have a squeaking front left tire area. Was told it's a Ball Joint. My mechanic just called to say it's more than he can address and I should go to the Dealership ( Oof!! )
What I want to ask you guys is if this something you are aware of. I guess the Ball Joint and Torsion Bar area are one in the same and it's a tough job if you aren't familiar. Does this make sense? Anyone out there experience the same comncerns? Just curious...
