Subject: A few things to look for

Cracked exhaust manifolds, particularly passenger side. Listen for a diesel-like sound when cold.
Rear main seal leak, look for oil where the engine and transmission meet.
Cranky shifts from 1st to 2nd on the manual transmissions, sign of failing synchros.

That's about it for major/obvious issues.
