Thanks for the info. That makes alot of sense. It seemed like the service tech didn't want to go there. His statement was "it's electronic now, not mechanical, so there's nothing we can do about it"

nothing except replace the faulty part!

We've already gone to the corporate customer satisfaction rep and got a response so I think this info will be very helpful in discussing it with them. Now looking at it more closely, the diverter doesn't really close any of the ports in any mode, i.e in defrost it's still blowing on the floor and on vent it still blows both floor and defrost.

The service tech did take me out to a couple other new XT's and showed me that the same thing was happening, but that doesn't mean that they didn't get a whole shipment with the same batch of HVAC controllers. - maybe they need a recall on these.

I'll post results as soon as i get them....
