Subject: How is this possible? (Xterra driver kills pedestrian standing between two parked cars.)

Investigators said a 21-year-old man was killed during a New Year's celebration when an SUV hit him along a Jefferson Parish street.

Todd Paul Allen, 26, was driving at 2001 Nissan Xterra along the 2900 block of Mount Arbor Court shortly after midnight when he hit Allen Hebert, police said.

Hebert was taken to West Jefferson General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

Witnesses said Hebert was standing between two vehicles lighting fireworks when he was hit.

Allen wasn't cited, but the district attorney's office is being consulted."

Doesn't make sense. Was the pedestrian in the road or not?
