I don't either. If it was the knock sensor- then why only the trouble in damp weather?

If you don't think it's the problem, then why are you paying for it?

Take this to the dealer. They don't charge much more than Joe's garage does when you get right down to it. That money for diagnostics is applied towards any work you do, you know. And right now it is exactly what you need. You need a diagnostic test by someone who knows what they are doing- not from someone who is just guessing in the hopes of saving a few bucks. While risking wasting hundreds.

Bring it to a Nissan dealership, and ask them about CONSULT and ABD-II, Nissan's propietory on-board diagnostic system. (The hardware and software are already in your Xterra with the data logged. You just need someone to read it.)
