S, the first 4 cylinder X I drove felt like a real dog... But I've since learned a lot of that 'feeling' had to do with its low gearing. It's gearing's so low I'll (if nobody's on my butt) shift 1 – 3 - 5 with no problem... It's just when I'm burning along at 3,000 rpm’s @ 60 mph with $3.27 per gal gas that it bugs me. I assume this is the same gearing on their pickups with 4 cyl 5-speeds? Great for towing (I suspect), if not for mileage.

The seats feel great; like all 'entry level' vehicles, I'd watched the 'goodies' passed on to the next years model as ‘standard’ features; so with the 04 we've got some nice stuff, that was a premium on the original models, for the base price. ...As for the delayed wipers, since 'every' vehicles made with them now (if sold in Oregon it should be the law) the only aftermarket 'one' (just one) looked like garbage, and I hate to carve up the dash putting in some piece of crap... Is there a good brand you would recommend? I suspect I'd order it online - can't find anything locally anymore.

Brent, thanks too for you suggestions. I don't care about the speedometer, I’d just have to remind my wife to watch it! ...though it might make a half-decent excuse to some officer..? The loss of 'power' or torque on takeoff would actually be a good thing. Switching between my Tacoma and X, I'll jerk heads if I take off like the higher geared Toyota in the X ... just like I'll stall the Taco when switching from the X.

My wheels are (at work with my wife) custom, but stock size. I'd like to avoid the trimming... I will look into the 31x10.50 tires though, but a shame I'll likely not get much for the good ones I replaced the originals with... And I'd rather get advice from you guys though than some fast-talking tire salesman -- thank you both. I'll watch for any further suggestions.
