I'd like to adopt a forum policy here that -
everyone using a Universities Forum is mature enough to cope with all kinds of posts.
Remember that university principals, professors, academic staff, students and others can all be very badly behaved so don't be surprised by the infantile and/or offensive posts that appear here. I don't propose to waste my time deleting every provocation, so don't expect every post here to be of good quality.

The principle of free speech will be adhered to, as much as possible.

I'll try a few rules, though:

    1. Abuse and spam: Any posts impersonating me will be deleted, eventually, when I get round to it. Although you can post here without registering, I've set a forum option to display the Host address and the IP number of the author's messages. So it might be a bit easier now to spot an impostor.
    I will delete any post otherwise abusing me UNLESS it is part of the one thread entitled "Have a go at Peter Dow". Spam will also be deleted, eventually.

    2. Obscene, offensive or pornographic images: No gratuitous pornographic images, please, in the first post of a new thread. If you must post "explicit" images then you must have a warning message in the post title such as "XXX pornographic picture: rest of the post title". This requirement is to cater for people using public access computers who don't want to click on an innocent looking link and then end up with a pornographic image on their screen, contrary to prudish service provider rules.

    3. Complaints: Any serious complaints about the moderation of this forum must go through the "Contact Forum Admin" link on this page.

No complaints have been received yet through this official channel. I suppose that my political rivals have made controversial or offensive posts here anonymously just so that they can then make a public complaint about their own posts (under a different name, of course). They do this simply in order to discredit me. Pay no attention to them.
