OOC: Yeah, this is a really shitty description of what went on, but I really don't feel like writing a nice, long, eloquent and flowery story right now.
Anyway, here's the story:

Not long ago, a jolly-boat carrying a dead searat ran aground on the shores of Sampetra. The rat was clutching a piece of parchment, which was later discovered to be a map of a distant archipelago known as the Seven Deaths. On the floor of the boat, a map of one of the islands was found. It depicted landmarks and had a big black "X" on it towards the center. Beneath the drawing were written directions on how to find the place marked "X" on the map. "X" is a centuries-old pirate/corsair way of marking treasure, and so and expedition is being led southeast to the Seven Deaths.

So, to help start us off, howzaboot helping me design a crew? I've got two for you so far:

Chlorum Furo: ferret, captain
Brak Ironclaw: Gawtrybe squirrel, helmsbeast/navigator

He looks towards the ship admiringly. He had heard from word of mouth that there is a quest to find treasure and being one for adventuring will see if his assistance is needed. He is about 17 years old, grown to his full height of 6 ft 2 in. His eyes are an interesting shade of blue, a rarity for a marten. he is dressed in a jerken with baggy pants thatare way too big for him, but are held up with his belt. The weapons on him are a pair of daggers, a short (4 foot) double bladed hand spear with a small pike end of the other side. Other then that he has on him a bed roll and a large pack full of cooking supplies. he is a cook by nature and a fighter when provoked. Making his way to the dock he stands looking up at the boat. He then cups his paws together and calls out** Ahoy! **as soon as he spots creatures he nods politly to them** Names Cremson, anyone here lookin' for a good cook?

Ok, full name's Slitter Firewhip Darkclaw, but he goes by Firewhip most o' the time while he's on land. He usually only uses his real name when he's actually out on the seas. The string of islands he's from is called Savithri's Ring, from an old southeastern legend about a vixen seer -- Savithri -- who had a necklace with 5 precious stones that supposedly had powers of prophecy, or something of that sort. 5 islands in the archipelago, 5 stones, the old rulers o' the isle thought it fit. He used to be a corsair aboard a ship called the Pike's Fang, but was cast off when the rest of the crew mutinized, and he stuck with the captain. (That's when he hitched a ride on another ship and came to Sampetra).
Has a huge weakness for females, and also enjoys loot from far-off, exotic places. Is normally a calm individual, but he tends to get very vibrant, excited, and lively in tense situations or when females are around.

The black weasel wears no shirt, but a worn leather jacket (worn open) and dark cloth pants, adderskin belt, and one gold earring. Wears a pike's fang on a cord around his neck, and a slightly cocky smile.

Weapons are a short spear (shaft is 3 and a half ft, blade is 1 ft), a sickle, and a whip.

There you have it.
