Subject: Genealogy Help ... Again!

As some readers may recall, for several years now I have been trying to piece together my family tree. The surnames Price, Jones, Cecil and Summers being my focal searching points.

I shan't bore everyone with the confusions enroute, suffice perhaps to say that more unusual names would have been appreciated!

My latest dilemma is that the only marriage I(and other kind people) can find between a John Price and Adeline Jones (my paternal Grandparents) is one that took place after their earlier children were born. However (and I admit, to my suprise)I am told that this was not unusual. With that in mind I ordered the said Marriage Certificate, which arrived this morning, but I remain 'unconvinced'that this is actually the John and Adeline I'm seeking.

Therefore am putting the details on here and the Brynmawr site in case any names are of interest to or 'ring bells' for anyone else.

The details on the Certificate are:

Date: Twenty Ninth October 1894.

John Price, aged 30 years, Bachelor. Blacksmith.
Staffordshire Row, Abertillery.
Father, William Price. Profession: Sawyer.

Adeline Jones, aged 23 years, Spinster.
Blaina Gwent.
Father, Edward Jones. Coal Miner.

In presence of:
Margaret Smedley. John Richard Lewis. Mary-Jane and Fred Henry.

Given ages are out by, John 2yrs and Adeline 4yrs.

John being listed as a Bachelor, as opposed to Widower/Divorcee does not tally with all I've heard and read.

The Blacksmith bit is perhaps the only certainty and the name Mary-Jane's starting to haunt me! (Was name of John's child with first wife Maria. I'm told Mary-Jane married a Mr Wheeler).
