We were there, judges consisted of mom of last year's supreme winner, friend of Director and teen daughter of Diretor. Daughter played with a select few of kids all of which won top honors. The judge touted as coming from a modeling agency never showed. Paperwork never stated modeling AND commercial combined but when awards were done guess what?! That bumped my daughter since she was unable to do commercial. She did when Photogenic, Composite and Portfolio. Yes, my daughter had an off weekend she was very ill which leads me to the next point. She was feeling better after doing an awesome job (overall) on Beauty (having slept for 3.5 hrs) and I allowed her to play afterwards. They cornered her, without my knowledge, and asked "you weren't as sick as your mom said, were you?" My daughter has serious health problems some evident at times and at others you wouldn't notice but a mom does. For anyone to assume that a child is faking is a big mistake on their part. Nor is it your business to pry as to what drugs she is taking or what her health issues are, this is a personal matter. Being polite, she left to come back and burst into tears saying she felt like they were calling her a liar and wanted to go home. Next, not only myself but other moms had requested the point system for Q of Q and never received (My daughter was Overall last year and was recompeting). Of course after attending all but 1 prelim, and making well over 90 appearances not including personal best, one wonders at the outcome. I was also informed that we could not include scouting as one of the Q of Q but learned that the winner had. This same Director had an off weekend (giving her benefit of the doubt) but literally yelled at her daughter on stage during crowning making it uncomfortable for us in the audience to watch. Yes, I was emotional that weekend worried for my child but we all saw things including hearing some things so here's my take -- I say, NO, my daughter did not deserve to win Overall, Highpoint or Supreme but she did deserve to win Beauty. We walk away not as sore losers but with an expensive lesson for the future with this system. There are other issues that took place but to talk about it would be a waste of time. People will continue to be pulled in and I say good luck. By the way, for my child to be faking, she was admitted on Mon. evening with a viral infection which hit her system yet again and is coming home today.
I congratulate the young ladies who won and wish them the best for the year. This is my take on the weekend. I apologize for any spelling and punctuation mistakes that have not been caught. And I DID sign my name.
