Subject: TASK 15- PORTFOLIO

According to the dictionary portfolio "is a collection of the student's work assembled in a folder or file. It is said to comprise everything that the student writes, draws and speaks."
The portfolio is employed to assess the student's achievement in general and the student's reading in particular. Usually it is used as an alternative tool of assessing the student's progress.
Using Portfolios to evaluate students progress should be understood as a comprehensive instrument of assessment which reflects the students work, efforts, energy and progress. It empowers the student to take responsibility of his own work. However when using portfolios, teachers should have in mind that portfolios work as an alternative of testing students in an attempt to enable students to adress their learning in terms of process rather than products.
