Steel Dream's mind reacts more swiftly than his body is able to- using his power of the Mind, he dulls his own nerves significantly, so that he will feel where he has been hit but only a tinge of the pain. Pain only distracts. And I need concentration. It is this mental preparation that slows his physical reaction, and though he dances back as soon as Dem�nio's hind nails lash out at him, it is a fraction of a second too slow. The Welsh Cob acquires two neat scrapes across his right shoulder. Damn. Well, with luck that will increase his confidence, and he may start to underestimate me.

By the time of the second attack, Steel Dream has raised himself into a rear, and as Dem�nio's fores come toward him, he lashes out with all his strength at the other stallion's legs, counting on his own strength to at best break bones and at worst knock the attack away. If I do break anything... I'll find a healer. But I must win this challenge. It was my fault Silk got sneaked in the first place; it is the least I can do to try and get her back.
