Angel sorted though the keys she'd stolen, trying each until one worked. She wasn't surprised to discover it was the one which kept sticking to the key-rings.
"Magnetic. Very clever."
Angel opened the box carefully, revealing what looked like an obsidian staryu with a blue stone set in the middle.
"You're dismissed." she said, looking up at Starr and Cat. "Unless, of course, you want to remain behind."
Starr shook her head feverently. "Forget it Angie-girl, I'm going home. Mystical s**t is where I draw the line."
"Suit yourself." Angel said as Starr walked out the door. Angel looked to the Nexus Amulet that hung around her neck.
'What do you make of it?'
'We make that it's a dark, evil sort of artifact designed to feed off of the fear of men. So, it creates fear and paranoia.'
'Alive?'
'Not as such, no. No conssious thought pattern. Vastly inferior to us.'
Angel grinned at the artifact. "Hello pretty. Say thankyou to the nice girl for bringing you here."
'Please don't talk to the inferior artifact. It's degrading.' the chorus of voices that made up the Nexus whined.
"Quiet you."
